On Friday 11th and Saturday 12th August 2017, we returned to Africa Fashion Week London for the second year in a row to exhibit our latest African fashion wear at the impressive Freemasons’ Hall in Covent Garden.
The event aims to highlight African inspired designers from all over the world and give them a global platform to showcase their modern afrocentric clothing including African menswear and accessories. This year was a great success with over 5,000 visitors, more than 50 exhibitors and 42 catwalk designers representing 15 separate countries over the course of the spectacular 2 day event.
Kitenge Store’s fashion boutique was located on the 1st floor of the grand art deco building displaying products from our latest collection including our popular African print skirts and our brand new African print maxi skirt, which was a real hit with visitors who could not resist trying them on!

Also popular were our jazzy, women’s African print tops as seen below, which are very easy to wear and look great paired with black or dark blue jeans. They make great casual wear and can even be worn to work to brighten up a dull office!

In the below photo our Founder, Sian, is wearing at Africa Fashion Week London our trendy diamond shape African print trousers, with a matching hairband made from our recycled offcuts, an African print bum bag and beaded necklace all lovingly handmade by tailors in Tanzania!

We were overwhelmed and touched by the amount of positive feedback and comments we received. Many of our visitors loved our story, the ethics and good work we are doing on the ground in Tanzania, the feel of our high quality, African produced fabrics and choice of unique, bold and vibrant prints that are carefully selected by Sian at the market in Tanzania. It was an absolute pleasure to meet you all!
There is no better place to find so many stylish African clothes in London that is free to attend (exhibition only) and also helps to put African fashion on the map! If you were not able to attend this year’s event then do not worry you can still browse our latest Ankara styles in our African Boutique online.
